I would rather spend money and have a warranty. If you can do the work yourself it might not be worth it, but someone who needed a tech to do the change-over would have to invest the parts plus a couple of hours labor.
I see it this way, take of the DirecTV Trav'ler and install the Dish Trav'ler (the base rings are the same so no new wiring or caulk) install the new base ring on the old Trav'ler, swap the new controller for the old controller and box it all up. You now have a fully functional DirecTV Trav'ler to sell. Sell it for 1/2 price (around $700) and subtract that from what you paid for the Dish Trav'ler (around $1200) and for $500 you have a brand new antenna with a new 2 year warranty.
