I've just received my unlimited data wifi device from Omni-Lynx http://www.hsvwifi.com/BuildOrder strangely managed by / ordered through a school district in Alabama I believe. It is supposed to be nation wide on 4G. I'll experiment with it over the winter as we travel. We have used a mifi device for the past three years from Verizon and as long as you don't stream video you can manage your data.
I'm fortunate enough to have the grandfathered Verizon plan. I did look into this plan too and have a couple concerns about it. The plan was originally designed for the school district and has been expanded. There's a big push right now to sell these plans nationwide. It is also through Verizon, but there is a catch. IF Verizon decides the plan is too robust and throttles the school district, they will cut off all the other plans. To me, this means it's an iffy proposition. It is here now, but may be gone tomorrow. On the surface it appears to be an excellent choice.
Those posting about whether an unlimited plan is necessary are spot on. Not everyone needs an unlimited plan. 20g of data, to me, is rare. I usually exceed 35g month and often reach 70g levels, so unlimited is essential for us. Not everyone uses that much data so everyone needs to look at their individual usage to determine if one truly needs unlimited.....Dennis
