Data usage comparison
What difference, if any, is there between watching a one hour video on my android phone or using it as a hotspot to watch the same show on my smart television?

None that I can think of.. You might be able to reduce the bps rate to say 480 and that will save a lot of data compared to 1080. I do that from time to time when I just have to watch something while in cell range! ;)
