Dead USB port
My notebook has three USB ports and one has been dead for a couple of weeks now. What could cause this and what can I do to restore it?

- Just had the same problem, 2 of my 4 ports stopped working. Called service and ran their tests. They said it had to go in for repairs. I needed to remove the power and remove the battery to get the serial number, had the battery out for at least five min. When I put the battery back in and plugged it in the ports worked! No more problems after about a week.
- I had one quit working after a windows update. I ended up needing to re install the driver. But that was a work laptop and I do not remember if that was the only USB on the computer. I do remember I had forgot my A/C adapter to charge my phone and I needed to get it solved so I could plug my phone in to charge it.
