Delete new programs ?

Just a new laptop, and some here have been helping me load stuff and understand stuff.

Just got a note from my Verizon that half my month service has been used in two days ... never used more than half in a month until now - and that's several years of account.

Am guessing that's a buncha these programs I don't want that came with it downloading and updating ...

Not sure I can ID all of them, but would it be a safe bet to assume anything I didn't ask to download personally, and has a date of it in the past couple days is something I can delete?

Some have names I've never heard of, but some even put icons on the screen and some already had the icons on it. Almost none of which I want or use ... I'm guessing some are apps too, which most I won't use either, but I bet they use time as well.

Any advice here -
  • 5gb, but I've never used more than 50% in a month - in two days, 50% ?

    What is your monthly allotment?
  • I wouldn't assume you can update anything loaded in the past couple of days. Computers usually with a version of the operating system, some utilities and antivirus software protection that may be weeks or months old. The updates to these programs can be critical to keeping your system safe from viruses and hackers. Antivirus updates come out almost daily and operating system updates often monthly or less if it is a critical update. The names of the updates are not always easy to identify. You can turn off automatic updates but I would not do it for the operating system or antivirus software.
  • turn off "automatic windows updates"
that is where the largest data use will be
