Dell laptop won't turn on
I have a dell studio laptop and it will not power up anymore. I plug it in and the power light comes on and when I press the power button nothing happens. Any ideas what it might be? Thanks.

The power socket is mounted directly to the motherboard. Forces applied to the connector--bumping into the cord, etc--can loosen the soldered connection over time. Sometimes the plastic connector cracks. This can cause the symptoms you are experiencing. The part is inexpensive and readily available, and if you have basic soldering skills, it's not hard to fix it yourself, or a computer shop can do it for a nominal fee.
