Which would you purchase for trip planning & mapping software, Delorme Street Atlas or Microsoft Streets & Trips? And why do you prefer one over the other? Thanks in advance for your input.

You could download a 14-day free trial of Streets and Trips to get an idea of how you'd like it. No such luck with Street Atlas though.
