- margemakExplorerOk thanks
- docjExplorerUnder Menu/Setup/Satellite Setup, you will need to set the Switch Type to Multiswitch and the Antenna Type to 18" round. Once you have done that, let the device go through all its tests.
- margemakExplorerThanks Joel I am not concerned about HD, her receiver is able to be switched we tried serveral different settings, I have found on Winegard web site some more settings to try , I will wait for her to try them out.
- TinyandthegangExplorerDo you have a clear view of the sky to the south? Also check the switches under the sat dome, they are supposed to be set to DirectTV but mine were set to Dish right out of a new sealed box.

In this case. You would need also to upgrade your antenna.. The rooftop antenna you have now is NOT compatible with the new receiver and the installer does not carry hardware for RVs
These statements are not correct. Just because a DirecTV receiver is HD doesn't mean that the existing SD dish won't work with it. No, her dish won't receive HD signals but HD receivers provide SD outputs just fine.
The real problem occurs if the HD receiver is has a model number of 25 or higher in which case it is SWM-only and the existing dish is not compatible with SWM, although many dishes can easily be made compatible with SWM.
The OP says that her dish isn't finding the satellites, anyway, but she didn't state if the receiver she borrowed for testing was capable of multi-switch operation or if it was SWM-only. If it was the latter it would never work for her regardless of whether or not her dish finds the satellites. - margemakExplorerOk so far I hooked up my friends activated DirectTV and so far my Winegard Sat has not found any transponders so guess I need to call Winegard, I can hear it working and searching, I am looking online to see if they have any troubleshooting but so far nothing.
Thanks for all your suggestions. - BobboExplorer IIIBuy a (leased) receiver from www.amazon.com. Hook it up to the antenna in your RV, then call Directv to activate it. They will neither know, nor care, that it is not in your house.
- margemakExplorerOk thanks John that will work when I get back to Yuma in October , was hoping to do it here but DirectTV is just frustrating me so I will attempt doing it my self or have my friend that is more tech savvy than me.
- John_WayneExplorer IIOr you could have them come to the house and add a stand alone box to a bed room TV I think it is now 6.00 a month more, then when you leave you just take the box out of the bed room and put it in the MH

Sorry maybe I was not very clear, I already have a wineguard Sat receiver and I just need Direct Tv to give me a new box to put in my MH but they will not even do that they set the appt then once the tech gets there he says I cannot do it and I tell then it is a MH
I do have a friend that might be able to help or I will let you know Don I am just in Woodland
Thanks for your help
Now we are getting somewhere.

You need to switch to a Tripod-type antenna which the dealer/installer can provide (About 50 bucks complete with tripod and coax as I recall but that was in the SD days.. They call it a "Disaster Recovery kit")
