Not true all channels now on cable/satellite TV is now streaming, some do cost a small monthly fee but its there..
Best part about streaming is you can pick and choose the channels you want without paying for junk you don't want..

Many/most get 99/101/103 and will see no change. Those with SD only will notice any change.
I know I asked about this on another Forum and for those who know, a reminder(for me) would be nice. What Series of Direct TV Receivers will continue to work with the 101 Sat now and after elimination of SD. I know the number of channels broadcast on HD 101 will be limited and possibly gone all together in a matter of years but right now, I'm just planning on upgrading my SD receivers in the RV.
If I recall correctly, the HR44 and HR24 were two such receivers and I assume there are others when you add SWM switching and power adaptor? The discussion over on IRV2 is quite lengthy on this subject In case anyone gets the urge to read a novel!
Basically I expect that SD will be eliminated and there will be changes with which bird transmits what channel. Very few w/o SD will see any change.
Some receivers require PIs and some don't. I don't know what you mean by "SWM switching". The HR44, HR54 and Genie-2/HS17 require SWM. The HR24 is either SWM or 1-2 channel multiplex. - Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIThere is so much bad info here that I could not wade through it all. If someone already gave the correct information, good for you, I will just repeat the correct information.
1) DTV is not doing ANYTHING to RV's or RVers.
2) DTV IS dropping SD service but you will still be able to pick up DTV with a dome and and HD receiver with your existing dome.
3) Once this happens (likely early 2020) you WILL be able to receive DTV in HD with a dome (but you need an HD receiver)
4) Your dome will work just as it always has and will still receive only programming broadcast on the 101 satellite and that reception will be in HD.
5) While you will be able to receive HD with your dome, no one currently knows which channels will be broadcast from that 1 satellite.
6) You can always get an HDMI to RCA or Coax adapter so you could receive the programming in HD and use adapters to watch the programming in SD on an SD TV so the expenses would be very limited.
7) Anyone concerned about this today is wasting time and effort. When it does happen, it will only take a couple of days to get a new receiver or shut off DTV. The choice is yours! - 2oldmanExplorer II

And you think Dish will keep SD?
The day Direct TV drops SD is the day I switch to Dish TV.way2roll wrote:
A dish on a tripod is not cumbersome. Finding line of sight is not hard. I can handle $95. Outages? Never.
Sat TV - especially in RV's - is cumbersome, requires line of sight, expensive equipment and plans and subject to outages.
And it works everywhere. Yes, most places now have cell service, but do they have strong enough data service to support streaming? - eadeal55ExplorerWe dropped DTV a couple years ago when the cost got to $70+ a month. Sent their cards back and trashed the SD boxes. I swapped out the old SD TVs with new "smart" Vizio HD TVs, and now I can either watch available over-the-air HD channels off my batwing antenna, or with my Verizon MiFi unlimited plan can access multiple streaming services built right in to the Vizio HD TV. I know that to stream a 90 min movie at 1080p off Netflix cost about 4MB of data. Once you get to roughly 22MB of data streamed, Verizon starts throttling the data down to about 600mbps. We mostly watch off air HD channels. I can pick up 25-40 "digital" channels usually everywhere we camp.
