They offered a “special” deal that they would install High definition equipment at no cost to me for the change. Haven’t done it yet because I cannot receive HD in the motor home with out buying a different antenna and some other expensive equipment changes. Friend of mine spent about $2000 changing his over to HD.
A portable dish costs a lot less as an alternative. rgatijnet1 wrote:
Dropping SD(101) would only affect those DirecTV customers with a single feed "in-motion" satellite dome. The traveler, which focuses on three satellites would not be affected.
Yes, because the Travler is HD, just like a Home system. It will be a pain for those that use the Direct hand held Carryout type Domes. Your question begged for humorous answers. It still does. Information like that can be easily found elsewhere if you don't care for the people on here.
Just wanted to see if it had changed from the normal people who frequent these forums . - They are not targeting RV's. They are just dropping the SD (sat 101)across the board. That means anybody that is using the 101 Sat will be losing some channels if not all by the end of the summer. Direct wants all their customers to utilize the HD sats and HD receivers. They feel that the cost of the SD and 101 sat for the fewer people out there does not make economic sense. BTW, Tiffin Motorhomes has dropped Direct as a factory installed Receiver for the 2019 model year. They have supplied Dish Wally receivers for all 2019 with Sat domes from the factory---because Dish has fewer problems(can also supply HD) than Direct TV and probably because of the phase out of the 101 Sat. - captparExplorerBingo on imgoin4it reply, last word I got from direct tv was turn off for standard definition on my satillite KVH in motion was Oct 1st . Just wanted to see if it had changed from the normal people who frequent these forums.

How will Direct KNOW if you are using an RV Sat/Dome system???? Doug
That's what I was thinking. Especially if you use a receiver from your house. And why would they? I think it's just for SD which hardly any network broadcasts anymore. So without an HD receiver and dome I guess it won't work. But they aren't "turning it off for RV's".
Perfect time to cut the cord. You can get streaming HD for a LOT less than the new equipment and monthly costs of DTV. - imgoin4itExplorerI still have standard definition Direct TV at home and just take s receiver out of the house and put it the motor home when we leave. I received an email from Direct that said standard definition broadcast would cease in March 2020. And no longer be supported after that. They offered a “special” deal that they would install High definition equipment at no cost to me for the change. Haven’t done it yet because I cannot receive HD in the motor home with out buying a different antenna and some other expensive equipment changes. Friend of mine spent about $2000 changing his over to HD. Not ready to do that so am kicking the can down the road
