To clarify your statement, I believe that to get DirecTV HD, you must have something like the Winegard Trav'ler or tripod mounted DirecTV HD compatible dish but I think you can get Dish HD with any satellite dish (e.g. older domes or automatic or manual dishes on roofs) but the dish will have to re-aim to go from some stations to others (probably not a big deal for automatic dishes although it might take a few seconds more to switch channels). DishHD can also use a Winegard Trav'ler which would receive all programming without the dish having to move.
