If my direct tv has been sitting powered down fo too long in needs to be reactivated. I used to call and ask them to do it until I found that I could log online to direct tv a "refresh" the box, not restore or reset or reactivated. "refresh" is what I select under trouble shooting. Also, if the box isn't on and searching refresh won't work.
