DirecTV Automatic Portable

A bit of effort is worth it for me since I watch a lot of TV and won't be without HD and I don't like Dish. Soooooo, Slimline and Tripod. Aiming it is a 5 minute operation after I get the tripod and dish to the site. As was said previously, after setting it up a few times it gets very easy. I also use a wireless baby monitor vs a high priced meter. Works for me.

It doesn't happen with most guys, because it takes a bit of effort.

No SWM kit would be necessary with the G2(+) and an HD DTV receiver for SD reception. The only reason that might make any sense is if the receiver was a DVR.

Winegard now has a G2+ which is a big set up from the G2 so be sure if you go that route to pick the +.
If your friend does not mind taking 20 or so minutes to set it all up you CAN get full HD with a home style antenna setup on a tripod. There's a bit of a learning curve but gets pretty easy to do after a few setups.

I'd say the Winegard Pathway X2. That way if he ever comes to his senses, he can get DISH HD both eastern and western arcs.

Not getting HD will be a bummer. Tell him to get a Slimline and tripod and learn to aim it. After the first 10 tries it gets easier.

Depends on receiver he has. Older non SWMs will work, but newer ones wont.
