Let's not confuse the issue.
You must have the DVR in your coach, powered on and your antenna connected to the satellite AFTER you disconnect from shore power. Obviously, you must have an inverter powering your DVR or nothing else matters. However, if you don't mind taking the chance on your DVR hard drive, it DOES WORK. I have done it for many years. I have also had to replace my DVR every 2-3 years. I believe I would have gotten a longer life from my DVR had I not done this but I consider the $200 every couple of years as a worthwhile offset when I considering benefits.
