Directv DVR continuously resetting when no signal from sat

I think I finally found a way to get Directv's attention regarding this situation: Problem: You can no longer watch prerecorded programs stored on your DVR when you can't get a signal from the sat...

I second what Bill Adams says about hard drives. I have replaced numerous DirecTV DVR's and hard drives over the years due to failed hard drives. When I stopped driving with the DVR's on the hard drives stopped failing.

I doubt if the power saving mode will stop the hard drive. I have power saving enabled on my home DVR and it still records scheduled shows even when power saving is show as being in effect.
