I have a fifth wheel trailer, not a motor home. My thinking is that the damage done by driving a motor home down the road would be much less than pulling a trailer. I have never actually ridden down the road in my fifth wheel, but I have seen the effects on unsecured items after a rough road. Most trailers have no shock absorbers, so I doubt my DVR hard drive would survive very long on a rough road, while towing.
You really should not have any issues in a 5th wheel since it's quite likely that your 5th wheel will not have any power being supplied while you are moving. A DVR with a "parked" hard drive (powered off) should not have any issues at all. Imagine how much abuse that DVR took while running through the UPS system from manufacturer to warehouse to service provider to you!
It's more likely that a motor home will also have an inverter supplying power to the HD at all times unless you ensure that you power it off.
