Directv DVR continuously resetting when no signal from sat

I think I finally found a way to get Directv's attention regarding this situation: Problem: You can no longer watch prerecorded programs stored on your DVR when you can't get a signal from the sat...

I can't get mine to take the new software. When I click reset from the menu the first screen that comes up is a purple screen that says something like "wait a few more seconds". This is on an HR24-500. I have tried it on both of mine.
