Directv DVR continuously resetting when no signal from sat

I think I finally found a way to get Directv's attention regarding this situation: Problem: You can no longer watch prerecorded programs stored on your DVR when you can't get a signal from the sat...

I could not get my HR24's to take the download by doing the reset in the menu. When I used the red button on the front panel it worked 1st time. Enter the 02468 as soon as anything comes up on the screen.
