Directv DVR continuously resetting when no signal from sat

I think I finally found a way to get Directv's attention regarding this situation: Problem: You can no longer watch prerecorded programs stored on your DVR when you can't get a signal from the sat...

I finally got my HR24's to take a software download but it shows the same as it was (0x6bd 5/2) before the download. So even though it shows it was downloading new software, it still is the same if the menu data is correct.
Looks like they still have work to do.
