The way he explained it is that Directv leases space on a Dish satellite because it is higher in the sky. Better reception this far north. Maybe different if I had newer equipment.
That DirecTV technician explanation does not make sense to me .... Geosynchronous satellites all have to be located directly above the equatorial plane of earth. None can be located "higher" in latitude or they would not say in the same longitude in orbit. Also, I cannot believe the the two primary satellite TV competitors are sharing satellites. I have never heard of such in the past as they each launch their own satellites. I think your DirecTV technician was either incompetent or just lying to you.
You still did not provide your location in Florence. I'd be curious as to where you were that you could not receive the local FOX station that carried that football game.
