Directv H25 problems

Several months back I posted about using an H25 receiver with a dome antenna. I was told I needed to install a swm 840 kit which I did. I recently was able to use this set up and it worked fine. However once I returned home I was unable to receive any HD channels. I tried hide SD channels, show all channels, but only SD channels came in. I also tried to reboot the receiver and a few other things I read online with no luck. Before I spend who knows how long on the phone with Directv I thought I would see if anyone here had this issue. Thanks

  • Be sure to check signals on all 3 satellites to confirm the receiver is "seeing" all 3. SD comes from 101 and HD from 99 and 103.
  • Yep the PI was powering the dish at the main H25. I did a signal strength test but don't recall the numbers I'll recheck them tomorrow prior to calling directv.

Yes that's correct on the home antenna. Just rechecked and the satellite is set to SL3 LNB with switch type SWN LNB 8CH. Here the kicker I'm unable to change any of the satellite or switch settings when on that page the high lighted goes straight to continue. It won't allow me to make any changes or even restore settings.

Those are the same settings I see in my H25. When you go to the signal strength screen are you able to select 101, 99 and 103 and if so, are you seeing good numbers there (80+)?
  • Did you make sure that your PI was powering the dish BEFORE connecting the receiver? Sometimes that can make a difference.

  • When I had the HR24 and moved it between MH and house I had a complete list of all of the required manual changes including dish type, SD vs HD, remote type and TV resolution.

Now with SWM dishes and a HR44 it's plug and play. Note: The HR44 HDMI detects the TV resolution and automatically adjusts. Same remote types but each is programmed with the TV type. Yes left the remote at home once and forever after have 2 remotes.
  • I have to assume that you mean that you returned home and you are now connected to your home antenna. Is that correct? If so, be sure to go into the satellite- repeat satellite setup routine and select the antenna type you have on your house. You need the 3 LNB setup and likely SWM as the multiswitch. Let it complete the setup for that antenna and you should be able to get all of your programming again.
  • Are you positive you ever had HD. I have not seen a dome antenna that can provide HD to a Directv receiver. Dish, yes, but DTV is a no. (Once Imthought I was wrong, but I was mistaken.)
