A service call is roughly $50. It is fixed amount to the customer no matter what they do.
I do not remember what the protection plan costs.
The deal is that when they come out to service their own equipment, the parts are no cost, but the labor cost is for an outside contractor who gets a fixed fee.
The last time I had a bad HD DVR it cost me $50.
The tech said I should have signed up for the protection plan, and then just cancelled it the next month.
