DirecTV replacing old receivers without a receiver ID #

Some of the newer Dtv boxes have undocumented low speed ports. I had to replace a really old box with the rj12 low speed port and the new box didnt have one. Turns out the USB port is actually the low speed port- used a USB to serial adapter and made a db9 to rj12 adapter from the diagram in my domes manual. Works just fine.
