I simply remove the (bedroom SD) box and put it in the RV. I have the tripod, dish, strength meter and compass. Sometimes...set up in 10 minits...sometimes longer. Variables, I guess.....
DirecTV has, within its' website a "aiming page"....type in the location you want and the degree and height is there....copy it down.
Tell DirecTV nothing...but pay your bill on time. You want local channels? I have a passive switchbox that everything goes thru...so I just push the button I want (ant, Sat, Cable, etc., etc) put up the bat-wing and go for it.
AND.....I DO hook up my Sat co-ax to the "cable" wire already installed in my motorhome....and it works just fine. However...keep in mind I use the SD box..not the HD box. And, of course, not having "cable"...I don't use that button when the Sat dish is hooked up to the wire.
