Yes, you can use any receivers from your home. We have a Winegard Trav'ler paired with an HR44 DirecTV Genie and a miniGenie C41 in our MH and they work well.
Yes, the Trav'ler is a bit of an investment but IMHO it's worth it. Push a button and ~5 minutes later you have HD TV. With the Genie we can record up to 5 channels at one time and unlike the Dish Hopper there are no restrictions on what those channels have to be. We also have DNS service so we can leave the DVR set to the same channels no matter where we are. We never watch local stations anyway; we can get the weather and the news in seconds using the internet.
