Just wanting to add some input here.
All HD receivers can get standard definition as long as DirecTV is broadcasting the channel you want to watch in standard definition. This receiver compatibility list with all our DirecTV satellite antennas should also be a help to everyone here.

If you have the Genie at home, and want to use it with any other Winegard satellite antenna that is not the SK-SWM3, you will need a SWM kit. We sell it for $189.99 and the model number is SWM-840. This will allow you to use the Genie, or any other SWM-only receiver box with a non-SWM satellite antenna.
