We just signed up for DirecTV and were assured that using it in our RV would not be an issue. However, when we started to shop for a Satellite antenna, almost all except the most expensive state that they will not work with DirecTV HD. My probably dumb question is, will we still get the HD channels in SD or will we lose all the channels that are in HD? (BTW, customer service at DirecTV can not answer this question and it does not make me feel very comfortable with the company in general.)

Buy a tripod setup from tv4rv.com. It's a good tripod. Make sure you get the same dish you have at the house so you don't have to change setup when you take a box with you. I also recommend getting the Dishpointer app for you smartphone. You can "see"' the sats in the sky. Find someone to show you. I can setup in a few minutes. The rooftop system is blocked by trees often.

For a signal strength meter I use the meter in the sat setup section of the DirecTV receiver. To see it while I'm out at the dish I use a wireless baby monitor. Just aim the camera at the TV screen and take the monitor outside.X2 on the tripod from TV4RV.com. I have been using mine full time for the past 4+ years and I can set it up in seconds.

Easy way, skip the tripod and trying to set it up. Get a PORTABLE Winegard G2 Carryout and it finds the satellite for you! You won't be standing outside forever trying to point the tripod mounted setup! Don, I found that to be incorrect to a point...even as "the crow flys"....I live in Asheville NC...took my 5er to Myrtle Beach and got all my local channels...Travel to our camp in the middle of no-where, Pence Springs WVa and get all my local channels...what's odd is, when we camped at the Outer Banks, THEN we couldn't get our local channels....Kind of weird the way it works, but thought I'd toss that out there....It's more than 125 miles (air miles) from Asheville to Pence Springs WV and same from Asheville to Myrtle Beach, SC....

Guess I will have to wait until Tuesday when Winegard opens for business again.

Although I'm jumping in here late, I think the correct dish type will be Slimline 3 with Multiswtich as the switch type. There will be no B-Band converters needed because, as has already been stated, those are for HD reception in non-SWM setups.

Yes, the SK3003 is definitely for DTV, but DTV doesn't care who makes your dish, all their equipment wants to know is what kind of LNBs it has and what's it's shape. By telling it you have a Slimline 3 your are defining the type of "stuff" that your SK3003 has.

Correction: HD requirements for the B-Band converter is receiver dependent like for the HR24.

Ok, Hide HD duplicates on the channel guide. I can do that.
I have tried most all combinations of Dish Types, Switch Types, Tuners and with/or without B-Band converters over the last two days with no luck. Talked to DirecTV twice and they were of little help. Winegard is closed from Friday to Tuesday due to Easter. So if anyone has any suggestions let me know. The coach is a 2008 and had the original KV5 sat antenna and someone took that off and put on a Winegard Trav'ler of some type., guess it is a SK-3003. There are no instructions and at least 6 coax cables coming out of the ceiling, all unmarked of course. Is there a way to tell the "hot" one from the Trav'ler?
