I've lost Google maps a few times. It's usually when in the mountains or in areas where I'm driving quite a few miles and really don't need GPS. Since I'll just be following the same road for a long time it's not a big deal. I mostly use Google Maps to see where to head when i get closer to where I'm going.
My co-pilot (DW) keeps me on route.
With that being said I'm out on the west coast and roads are fewer and longer between spots. If I were in more congested areas I may want a GPS device other than my phone.
