Weird routings could be in your settings. Some settings do not allow for left turns or u turns.
Verify settings. Then do updates again! Make sure the updates are the most current. Our Garmins require updates almost monthly! My wife gets along better with her Garmin then I do with hers. I Like my Rand McNally far better!
