When our older Garmin quit working, we considered just using WAZE on our phone. We mounted the smartphone on the AC vent, but it was difficult to see in sunlight, and we had to take our eyes off the road to see it. We purchased Garmin DriveSmart 61 with Life Time maps, and Voice Activation about seven months ago. We really like it better than the previous Garmins we had. It is so much larger, and easier to type in addresses, and has been very accurate.
Once I updated it, all my saved addresses from the last Garmin appeared, so I didn't have to retype them.
The new Garmin is attached firmly to a bean bag holder that sits on the dash. We can move it around on the dash. We've made trips to several different states using it and have been impressed with the accuracy.
