I am amazed there are so many problems with Garmin. I've been using them since 2000 and have never had these sorts of issues. Bought a new 770 in September of 2017. Have 23,000 miles on the Rv since then all over the country, not to mention all the miles I used it in a car, and have not had a significant error like mentioned here. Used it right out of the box.
