I have a Dish 1000.4 and standard LNB for both WA and EA. I have been told that I do not have to switch out my dish and lnb if I use a DPH 42 switch. I understand that I need three cables from the LN...

Solo and Duo Nodes aren't used with Hopper 3s. Hybrid Solo Hubs and Hybrid Duo Hubs are used with Hopper 3s.
However, if you're just using a single Hopper 3 (and no Joeys), you can connect the output from a DPH42 or a DPH LNBF directly to your Hopper 3.
