If you activate the PTAT option you have no control over what is recorded and how long you can keep it. The PTAT uses 1TB of the 2TB hard drive (the recordings on the other 2 tuners goes to the other 1TB only) and automatically records ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox from 8pm - 11pm (prime time) every weekday. It maintains 8 days worth of recordings and on day 9, day 1 goes away.
If you do not activate the PTAT option you will have full control over all 3 tuners. That way the recordings do not go away and as long as you don't need to record more that 3 programs simultaneously you can still record the programming you might be getting behind on. That means you could manually set to automatically record all of your favorite Network programming just not more than 3 in the same time period.
