You are splitting hairs with your comment but I would be more than happy to delete my comment if it makes you happy... You must be a SAT RECEIVER SHERIFF I guess...

Roy, it was a simple statement...I meant no disrespect nor was I being sarcastic. I just had never heard of being able to switch out receivers between the two providers. I thought I had learned something new. I sincerely apologize if I offended you. Truly.

RoyB, the VIP211 receiver is used with the Dish "Pay As You Go Plan".
I think you can do the Pay As You Go Plan with any receiver you own. One big advantage of this is there are no cancellation fees if you drop the service. So if you're upset about loosing the Fox channels you just don't pay the monthly bill and the service goes away.
And if I remember correctly, when I dropped the service one month there was no charge for restarting it later. I just reactivated it from their Web Page by making a monthly payment.
Of course the big disadvantage is that you loose out on any discount Dish may offer for signing a long term contract. - greendeExplorer IIGot mine from dishformyrv.com.

- Dutch_12078Explorer III bought my VIP211K from Installer Oasis. Do not let anyone talk you into a 211Z, it has fewer features.

I imagine all of the TV PLACES sell the unit. Then when you purchase it they set it up for DISH or DIRECTV... I got my extra SAT receivers from CIRCUIT CITY when they was still in business a few years back...

I didn't know you could use a DISH 211K receiver for DIRECTV application! :h - Jay_PatExplorerI purchased mine from a local Dish dealer.
I also, got a copy from the dealer, a list of settings for all zipcodes for the eastern and western satellites. Helps very much for aiming, if you go with a manual antenna.

- bob_nestorExplorer IIITry Solid Signal. They are a Dish and DirecTv dealer who will sell you the equipment. I bought mine from them a few years ago. It was brand new but Dish wouldn't allow me to register it for service. I contacted Solid Signal and they set it up for me and I now manage it from Dish's Web Site.
