Siting in San Antonio Texas and watching San Diego news on Dish no problem, travelled down to Mexico and received the signal all the way down to Saltillo, after Saltillo no more, we have the receiver from home never an issue.

Spot beam "footprints" vary quite a bit in size shape, so it's entirely possible to travel hundreds of miles that happen to stay within an oblong shaped beam. There are also a few locals that are on CONUS beams rather than smaller spot beams, and can be picked up nationwide on at least one satellite. Our service address is currently a Vermont address that's in one of the rare ZIP codes that receives dual market locals from both the Albany, NY and Burlington, VT DMA's. When we head south in January, we'll be able to still receive the western arc SD feed of the Albany locals on one spot beam down to northern VA, but we'll lose the Burlington locals that are on a different spot beam around the NY/PA line.
