If you want to BUY the receiver your selection is very limited, (VIP 211) as far as I know... Most of them are leased.
Considerations: Dish is shortly (If not already) back to being not able to offer Distant Network Service so if you drive too many miles from home... NO ABC, NBC, CBS, et-al.
DOME type antennas work well with receivers like the 211K (though you may have a bit of menu fun setting it up) but if you have MULTIPLE receivers (This includes dual-(or more) channel DVR's) you won't be happy with a dome.
To set up a dish type antenna .
I think it is menu 6-1-1. (Setup Antenna pointing) (it is 3-1-1 on my digital TV converter but I think it is 6-1-1 on Sat receivers) enter zip code, Leave most everything else alone and it will give you suggested pre-sets for the dish.
Pre-set elevation and skew to recommended settings.
Make sure mast is plumb (Straight up and down)
Slowly swing through azimuth while watching receiver on a portable TV.
The software in that box is every bit as good as some professional pointing devices with price tags in the comma range (1,000 used) Those 20 or 30 dollar in-line meters people use.. Junk.
