Dish or Direct TV?

Dish vs Direct TV I just can't decide which one is worse, I got Direct tv but its only marginally better than dish if its at all better. Dish has horrible customer service, maybe just little worse than Direct tv.
For what its worth my advice is try to do with out either one, try do your tv watching on line.
It kills me that you have to pay good money for mostly ads. I think you would be much better off in every regard if you did not subscribe.

Only in SD if you using a dome style antenna. Full HD with Trav'ler or tripod mounted antenna.

I just got the Dish Tailgater 3, the 211Z receiver, and the bare bones Dish Flex Pack and am very happy with it. I have cable at home so I’ll just use this when we’re traveling. The Flex Pack is limited, but enough to keep us entertained. It has CNN, HLN, Weather Channel, a couple of old movie channels, HGTV, etc. I can get local stations with our OTA antenna.

AT&T Sportsnet is my choice.

I used DirecTV for quite a few years and had very little problem with it. If there was a problem their support personnel did a good job for me.

It sounds like you plan to have the service installed at home and then use it in the RV as well. That's the best case scenario if that's your plan as you don't have to work about turning service on and off. You just move the receiver(S) from home to RV when necessary.
The issue comes up with the type of receivers you decide to use at home and the type of antenna that would be required in the RV. If you can afford a $1500-$1800 antenna for the RV you can buy a Winegard Trav'ler for Dish or DirecTV and you will have the exact same antenna on your RV that you have on your roof at home.
If not that then the choice of portable automatic domes or a home style antenna mounted on a tripod become your choices. How often and for how long you plan to use the RV makes a big difference. Look around the forum and see what you think. My battery is going dead so I gotta go!!

If the sat service is only for your RV and you're not a full-timer, then Dish is the way to go. Dish has a very RV centric "Pay-As-You-Go" service that lets you start and stop service with no penalties and no contract. You do have to buy your equipment though. There are several different equipment packages available from DISHforMyRV.com, but a little research may find better prices elsewhere. Which receiver and dish will work best for you would depend on a better understanding of what you want from the service. Dish has DVR receivers that can record up to 16+ channels at once for instance, and others that only receive one or two channels.

To the OP, both services are about the same in terms of cost, equipment and reliability. Direct is known for offering sports packaging, if that's your thing.

Unless things have changed recently, you can only get HD channel with a dome antenna if you go with Dish. As far as I know, the only way to get Direct HD channels is by using a Winegard Trav'ler (very expensive) or a residential type antenna that must adjusted by hand.

In my opinion, either service will work for you if you want satellite TV.

Neither, use the money to pay for unlimited data and watch what you want on the internet or over the air. Although there are some parts of the country where you will not have any reception then like kerrlakeroo said watch the sunset ;)

I had direct tv for 10 years until 2008 when I discovered cord cutting. I have been using the internet for the last 10 years at home and on the road.
