Hi all: We're interested in DISH's Pay as you Go service with the ViP211K Tailgate Bundle with HD Receiver. Curious how anyone's experience has been with that sat dish and with DISH in general. DISH won't tell me how much the setup fee is so if you don't mind sharing that would be great. Thanks, John

We just moved from Comcast to Dish at home and got the tailgater as an add on for the coach. installation was free. but we must now re-wire the coach because the RG cable in the coach is shorted.

I have DirecTV at home and took one box with me on the road. I used an old foldup dish that they don't make any more. I got sick of moving the box back and forth so I bought a VIP211 for Dish. I turned it on aimed the same dish that I used for DirecTv. When I got a signal I called dish and asked for the cheepest thing they had just to see if it worked. I think it was $19.00 for the first month. I have used it a few times since then, the last time it was about $50 for a month and there more stations then we need. $25 or $30 a month is better then moving the box in and out of the house.

We've had DishNetwork for years.....over 15 yrs. We travel with our own sat. dish and we rent the "mobile receiver" (my name for it) for $5.00 a month. We love DishNetwork....had thought at one time to change but the channels we want are in a more expensive package at DirecTv. I DO recommend going to your local dealer and getting set up rather than using the online or phone service. :)

I bought the vip211k receiver and Tailgater nearly 2 yrs ago. But since we have had Dish at home for many years I just added the RV to the home account for $7/mo. So can't comment on the monthly plan.Set up was easy, at least in my case. I only had a single coax input to the RV for park cable. But inside near the TV was a dual coax wall plate with a short coax jumper across the two connectors. By removing the short jumper and connecting another short coax from the wall plate to the receiver box it worked fine. Just power it up and it automatically locates the sats.I later added a second external coax connector specifically for the sat receiver so I could put the original coax jumper back in place for park cable.For your information. The last time I looked at dishformyrv.com they were offering a vip211z receiver. The vip211k has a coax output for a second TV. The vip211z appears to have a component output for a second TV. Not nearly as convenient, at least in my opinion, for a second TV.

I've had dish at home for years also. Previously used an extra dish antenna on a tripod, but now got Winegard's Anser for the antenna. In both cases i just take my home receiver, which is a 625 dvr. The Anser let's me easily hook up an extra cable to watch a different channel on each tv. It does have to be on the same satellite, but everything we watch is on 119 anyway. No extra cost.

Don't know why you are getting a past due bill. I call after every trip and ask them to disconnect my service so I can save any remaining money. I have never gotten a bill that says I'm past due. You should probably call DISH and ask to speak with someone in the Loyalty Department (Essentially the supervisors) and see what's up. When you disconnect service be sure and not say you want to hold it. A hold charges you $5 per month, something not needed with a Pay-As-You-Go plan.

rocmoc - what was the result of your conversation with the DISH folks? I have a similar situation where I assumed that if I didn't pay for a month, the service would stop. I'm now getting e-mails about collections and I'm being told that I have to bring my account "current" in order to pause / cancel or whatever. Thanks!

I don't have a Pay as you Go account YET! Have only been reading and responded a couple of times.

Sorry about that - lost track of who said what in the thread. Rookie mistake :)

One more thing to note here for the group - the rep I spoke with told me that the collections notices are the expected result if I don't call in and let them know when I want to stop the service. Maybe a policy has changed...

I never got a collections notice but I always called because I did not want to waste the rest of the month's balance. Based on the above posts, I'll be sure to call from now on.

I just signed on with Pay-as-you-go as well. I opted for the 1000.2 dish (the one you have to manually aim) and the ViP211k receiver. So far, I love it. And at just $7/month over and above my usual Dish bill, well worth it.
