Dish Tailgater to (2) TV's

Anyone got a quick answer how to hook up a tailgater to two TV's? I realize I have to watch same channel but wondering how to do it with the least amount of work involved. Have HDMI cable, coax cable and Dish receiver V211k Also have the diplexer

  • just to clarify run cable from Tailgater to receiver and then hdmi cable to one of the TV's and regular cable to a second tv......is that pretty much it?

thanks for the info appreciate it, does the booster need to be off?

You cannot use your incoming "cable TV" connection to use satellite TV unless it's a dedicated line AND you modify that line to redirect the signal to your satellite receiver instead of the splitter that sends the cable TV signal to all TV's.
You want/need a dedicated line (coax) that runs from the Tailgater to your 211 receiver. It's the 211 output that can be connected via splitter to multiple TV's.

any recommendations for temporary mounting a dish tailgater on the roof so it can be removed when leaving campsite?

I've seen a few anchored to an A/C cover with bungee cords.

If you're trying to connect the Tailgater to the 211k using the outside cable connector, the booster power injector will have to be completely bypassed. If the Tailgater has its own cable connection, then the booster and OTA antenna can be used to feed the local channels to your 211k.

  • It's not a Tailgater issue. That's the antenna and it can't connect to anything but the one single 211 series receiver. From the 211 receiver you need to run cables to each TV. If you want HD on more than one TV then you need to run multiple HDMI cables to each TV so a splitter and some running of new wiring will be required. If you only need HD on one TV but can get by with SD on the other TV(s) you can connect the main TV via HDMI and then run the receivers coax output to the coax video control center (or similar) to send that same channel to the other TV in SD.
