Dish Tailgator

Can you watch 2 different tv chanels on 2 different tv's with the Tailgator I have a Dish 500 receiver and a 3 LNB dish on a tripod now. It can be a pain to set up. I want to watch different shows on the 2 tv's. I like Deadlest Catch and DW wants Dancing with the Stars.

Thanks
  • The tailgater will work with 211k and 211. I'm using 211 now camping in northern Michigan. FYI.

Dish Tailgater only works with a VIP211K receiver, and is only one channel at a time. That said, you can set the receiver up with an external hard drive. I've been happy with ours and especially the pay as you go. Also, fairly easy to change to the new location every time.

What brand of hard drive do you use?
    Thanks, Marilyn
  • You would need an upgraded version of the Tailgater, like the VuCube 2000. My 2000 has a 2nd "slave" output connector for a 2nd receiver. As Bill notes, the 2nd channel watched will have to be on the same satellite as the main receiver is watching, since any dome type dish will only lock onto one sat at a time.

  • I have Dish with the Tailgater and the 211k and I love it--easy easy EASY.

I wonder if a customer could buy a second Tailgator+211k and recieve a separate stream?
  • No dome from any manufacturer will allow a Dish customer to watch/record 2 channels on 2 different TV if those channels are coming from different satellites but it will work if by chance they are broadcast from the same satellite.
Installing a HD to the receiver does not change these rules.
    Edit: Corrected spelling.
