When Cable and Sat TV (Generic Subscription TV) were first advertised they yammered about commercial free television.. Yea, right, you can see how well that worked out.
And then we got a whole bunch of subscription only channels.. (No list here).
But all of them still run commercials (For the most part a couple PPV are different)...
NOW: Here is my thinking: Since the SAT companies (And cable as well) bring the signal into millions of homes that would not otherwise get the advertising the networks should be paying THEM to carry their product (Commercials are the product, shows are filler between product)
But alas, the networks do not see it that way so they want the subscription services to pay them for the privileged of broadcasting their commercials. (Now that simply makes no sense to me). Sometimes a network gets too greedy and the subscription service tells 'em to stuff it.
