This has also affected King control units. I have a King 9762, after talking with King controls, and Dish I have a choice, switch over to Direct TV, sign up for a two year contract rent their equipment, or change out the dome for a different unit. King controls stated that they would not be supporting the 9762 any longer. Right now I have an anchor, or a large paper weight sitting on my roof.

King has also told us that "You would need new software and a new board. You cannot update it with just the keypad. It will be a $200 deposit for the software updater and the board would run $410. We are out of the boards right now. None of our Dealers would have the parts to update it."
However, there's a somewhat lower cost option -- use a portable dish or dome, such as the Tailgater, Anser, Pathway, or Carryout. The Pathway X2 seems to be my preference.
