DIY tripod to level taitgater

Wasnt sure if I should put this herte or in the DIY section so here it is.

I get into a lot of places where the only place to get a signal is on the side of a hill where I need to stack whatever I can find to get my dish somewhere near level. Has anyone ever made a tripod/ stand to level it up a bit in these situations? Pics please.

I have in mine a small half wine barrel with a cheap camera tripod legs attached to it that extend. Looking for any other ideas

  • Didnt know they made something like that. That is just what I wanted. I am still going to try my hand at a DIY, but if I dont get any good ideas I will just buy this one.
  • We use a TR-1518 Carryout Tripod Mount when not level.

It works with our tailgator holes line up with feet.

Correct but when it gets windy its just not as steady as if it were sitting flat. I have 1 site in particular that has a hill that is about 8 feet tall that is a very steep grade. I cant reach the top and the bottom is blocked by trees. Its really hard to get close enough level and stable at the same time. Unfortunately it is my favorite campsite but that hill sucks.
  • I have been setting up for sat for 15 years both DTV and DISH SD and HD.

Long ago I adapted to a surveyors type tripod like RVTV sells. It has a bubble level on the dish adapter.

It is very stable and it has never fallen over.

With Dishpointer AR on my iPhone I can set up in 5-10 minutes.

I am thinking of buying a Winegard Pathway X2 but Ill still carry the tripod; just in case.
