I have my original 1989 Winegard Batwing Aluminum antenna with RU8, 75 ohm cable and it plays just fine with my Insignia LED-LCD flat panel TV's In fact we are still using our original dipole rooftop antenna from when we built our home in 1975. My brother is still using a set of rabbit ears in his home in Sacramento. So I would say these guys are correct, no special antenna unless you want to spend money just for fun.
