just an FYI on the Jack.. It is a compromise at best, not coming near the performance of the Batwing. If that is your primary antenna, personally I would want all the performance I could get. Buy the best and cry only once.

I sometimes do this kind of stuff.

Now, since I'm not a professional technician there are limits to what I will do, For example I really do not like tearing up the walls of an RV to dig out the coax cable.

When we (The owner and I) had one that gave us fits we took a length of coax and ran it direct from the back fo the wall box to the antenna via a window. Worked.. This narrowed the problem to the coax and the connector in the roof.

Turned out to be teh connector in the roof.

There's a million reasons things go bad. Corrosion , static, cold solder, things falling out of tolerance, or just plain going TU. That's a pretty nasty environment up there.

Yes, stuff goes bad. 11 years is a pretty darn good life if you ask me. You might want to read the reviews of Jack vs. Batwing on this forum.

My Winegard Bat Wing appears to be dead
I have replaced or metered all the cables and there is 12 volt at the cable on the roof. I even tried to run a cable to the little power supply box in the cabinet directly to the TV with no results. I have ordered a "Jack" antenna that should be here Tuesday. I even spoke with Winegard Tech Support who was real nice but couldn't give me any tests for the Winegard head. By the way it is 11 years old, has anyone had one go bad that was not damages by a tree or something else? Just wanted to try the Jacks it was not too much money.

If it was working OK before, its likely a bad connection or a corroded wire.

Buy non conducting electrical silicone and put on all coax and wire plugs including toad anf TT light hookups. Saves a lot of problems after the fact.

A new head does not cost that much, but it's unlikely that's the issue anyway. There is not setup procedure for the Winegard antenna but there are a couple of components to deal with. It's possible that the power supply it's self is bad or you could have a bad cable or connection between the power supply and the TV. You will want to remove the power supply from the wall, check connections and verify that you have the correct cable connected to the TV. Run a coax directly from the "TV" port on the power supply directly to the TV if necessary. This is all on the assumption that your original post meant that you did check the coax cable on the roof where it enters the head and you have at least 12V's there and when you power off the interior power supply you lose that 12V power.
