Does antennea need to be digital???

Have a 2001 Newmar Kountry Star DP. Still have original TV's and thinking of upgrading to a couple of flat screens.

Question that I have is about the antennae. As the new TV's will be capable of digital reception will I also need a new antennae??
Currently have the original Windgard crank up antennae.

I know the TV has to be digital compatible but what about the antennae???

  • There is no such thing as digital antenna
It's a marketing gimmick, just an advertising name game to sell antennas
You do not need to replace any existing antenna, unless it is broken
  • All signals are analog when they hit the antenna. The difference is how the signal is processed and interpreted by the TV.

Our 15 year old Winegard works just fine receiving the new digital channels. Of course, the bigger more expensive antennas may work better for you, but generally that results from being more directional.

If you park where all the TV broadcast towers are in one direction (on top of a high hill near a local town, then directional works better. If the towers are spread out, then you may not be able to tune in all the stations without turning the antenna when you change channels.
