Double charging for on-line orders - NOT FIXED

Not National Rallys? They had several last year. Are they not having any this year? Was that announced officially? And I will have to disagree with you about them not caring about fixing things. I believe they do. You can't begin to repair problems caused by fires until you put them out. I don't think Marcus, Mike and the others have admitted to it being perfect. Heck, I wish my job was perfect. You would think that with where I work having been around for 100 years, that it would be. And there are many more people working for it than with GS/CW...go figure.

Constantly putting out fires without dealing with the point of ignition doesn't constitute their caring about their customer.

I found the in-store experience to be unpleasant in that the service department is separate from the sales department. I bought a 5th wheel there, and the salesman had to coordinate with the service department, and got 3 out of 5 things wrong (which seems to be a common issue with the service department, according to other posts). For five minutes I stood and watched the salesman and the service manager point fingers at each other as to who was at fault for problems. I finally said "look, I don't care who's at fault, just fix it". They were shocked, and looked like they had a history of disdain for each other.

Similarly, I suspect the billing department for online sales is somehow separate from the fulfillment department. The website takes the order, processes the credit card, reserving the monies, then the fulfillment people actually charge for the product when it ships.

I agree, they should settle against that authorization. Unfortunately on-line purchases from Camping World frequently authorize the transaction and then for some reason charge the customer again (second card transaction for the amount) when the item ships instead of using the original authorization, thereby tyeing up double the amount of the sale until the original authorization expires which is usually three to four days. This makes double the amount of the sale charged against the customers account unavailable which can also create and overdraft. No big deal if someone has plenty of funds available but for those on a tight budget it can be a huge problem.

Camping World has know about this for well over a year now and obviously done nothing about it.

When credit card transactions are presented they get a authorization from the bank. When the item ships, they should settle against that authorization. The auth continues to tie up funds until it expires.

You are correct to a point. Fact is they placed a hold on funds in your bank making them inaccessible to you and then did it again still tying up double the amount of your order.

I'm going to report back if anyone 'reached out' to me on this. And I'll be posting far and wide on other forums regarding this practice. A simple posting by customer service is not going to be sufficient to quiet this consumer.

One good thing, RVNET hasn't taken down (censored) these types of posts.

It's their on-line business model. I solved it by never ordering anything from them again. I will buy at the store but never again on-line from anyone that holds onto twice the sale amount for four to five days.

I'm the latest to freak out at this. Never have I shopped online and had a 'holding charge' like this. I can only imagine it has to do with the business model Campingworld uses. Separate charges hit my bank from different locations, all Campingworld. The customer service phone rep said the money would automatically be credited four days later, which is after estimated delivery date and there is nothing he can do. "That's the way the system works" is apparently a scripted response. Imagine the interest on millions of dollars for four days Campingworld makes with this scheme.

I'm calling my bank having them do a charge-back on the transactions.
