When you travel, put the home Hopper in the RV.
I was wanting to avoid that mainly because of having to hook up joey's and not sure if they would switch locals to current address like they used to for the Tailgator. I want the tv in the bedroom on one tuner and the outside and living room mirrored. Could the outside/living room tv's be hooked directly to the hopper thus no Joey needed and the one in the BR use a Joey? Would I take the Joey from home as well? Would wireless joey's help the process?
Sorry for all the questions, but I am in shock now that I have bought the rooftop traveler and have been a Dish customer for 16 yrs, I can't just buy another DVR and do what I want with it in the RV. Thx for all the help.
The Dish CSR is right, their corporate policy only allows a 211k on a Hopper account. We may not like it, but "them's the rules".
The Hopper can be setup to mirror its output to one or more other TV's besides the primary. To use the existing coax, a readily available component to RF modulator (Walmart has them) can be connected to the component outputs on the rear of the Hopper, with the programming sent over the existing coax on either channel 3 or 4 in SD. Another option, but one that would need additional wiring, would be to use an HDMI splitter with feeds wired to the other TV's. There are also some wireless options, but I'm not familiar enough with them to offer any suggestions. Adding a Joey for the additional TV of course, would give it full functionality for $7 a month unless you use an existing one from the house.
And yes, Dish will change your service location regardless of which receivers you have on your account. We currently have a Hopper (soon to be two), a Joey, and 211k on our account, and I switch service locations as often as daily.
