Dump Gmail?

Not too likely. Problems with PC's performance are almost always local to the PC.

I have batch files that I fire off to perform many of these tasks and run them when shutting down. Just let them run and walk away.

MALWARE. I have Google Gmail and had the same problems. Also had other problems and gave up trying to fix it myself. I took it in, they cleaned my machine and now EVERYTHING is faster than the speed of lightening!!!! :) I was using a free program someone recommended to me........don't know why I trusted her.....LOL LOL

How are you accessing G-Mail

1: Using a client like Outlook
2: on the web

I use web version, a small "Add on" to firefox, (not to mention my phone) let me know if I get a new message and then I web in and check it.

There are over 425 million GMAIL users worldwide. I'm not experiencing any types of issues you describe on their services. I also think your slowdowns are being caused by another issue. But need to be more specific?

I use Gmail, but I use Microsoft Outlook as my email client. I occasionally use a browser to access my Gmail account. Other than using Google for searching the internet, I don't use any other Google services.

Try clearing the cache too. Settings, show advanced settings...

I occasionally have problems with that delay.

It only happens when I'm using a public computer that isn't running Firefox with AdBlock+.

The delay is caused by those infernal ads.

Look at the status line - you'll see "Waiting for: infernal.adserver.com".

I don't believe that Gmail is causing your problems. Look elsewhere for something as mentioned already. Millions of people use Google mail, google search, etc and if there was a problem with it, there would be a lot of information available about it.

Or just all the junk that starts when you turn your computer on. Go to the search box and type in msconfig.exe and click on it. From there you can delete stuff you don't want to run in the background...use caution not to delete stuff you do need. Run a good protection program such as ESET to keep you system clean. Finally, get yourself a program such as Glary Utilities to filter and clean out all kinds of junk and keep your system running well. I don't think Gmail or Google is your culprit.....Dennis
