If you are going to use Direct you have two basic and several secondary choices
1: Another unit from Direct.
2; TiVO.. they still sell 'em
3: There are some computer packages like Hauppauge WIN-TV Replay Edition. These can control your sat receiver. I DO NOT KNOW if they do HDMI but they do A/V (Red/White/Yellow)
